This extra edition of A+U serves as a "Guide Book" to the 1987 International Building Exhibition Berlin. In large part, it surveys, with color photographs, a diversity of drawings, sketches, models and snapshots, modern architecture and other currents in Berlin during the period as well as numerous referential aerials and maps. In addition to other written works published for the exhibit, the final quarter of the edition includes the "Careful Urban Renewal:Kreuzberg" project, an essay by Hardt-Waltherr Hämer, elevating this edition to a document in the intellectual history of urban renewal.
